SEMINAR REGISTRATION
ForMATTSHELTON/JAMIE PILLET
WILL BE
this Saturday, OCT. 12th, at 1pm!
Hi there Actors, Actresses & Those who love them,

This Saturday at 1pm, we begin registration for the
MattShelton/Jamie Pillet Seminar!

MattShelton(Stride Management) is one of my favorite managers ever and works in the L.A. arena.

Jamie Pilletis an agent from Abrams, New York City and I hear she works all over this continent! That is why I want her to meet my students! When I was in L.A., I kept hearing HER name and she works out of New York!

Seminars are important. The student becomes comfortable in class. We want them to be so they can create, but then, there is a time to be "ON", to "Entertain", to "Show their Stuff". THAT is a seminar! It feels kind of like when Dancers have recitals. It simulates how a callback or screen test feels and helps the student become more confident in handling that when it happens. In the meantime, powerful people get to see the student's work, and often times- magic happens.

There are So many Master Students in Halloween Movies & TV shows!- See below for details and look at the bottom section for Halloween entertainment with Cathryn Sullivan Master Students, both from G-Rated movies & TV shows to R-Rated movies

Passionately,
Cathryn Sullivan

PAIGE MCGARVIN(pictured above)
From Paige: About three months ago, I got offered this associate producer job, i didn’t even apply or seek it out, it was a total God thing. I was really nervous about investing energy in something that wasn’t acting, but it’s been SO good, I’m learning so much about every side of this industry and i feel like I’m growing and maturing a lot as a person too. It has totally given me a new outlook on acting! (I’m still auditioning and self taping while I produce.) I'm associate producing the show :) not acting in this one! But I do have a movie premiering on lifetime on October 17th that I am the supporting lead in!! (The above picture was from Friday, so when it says "Tonight"...it was from Friday).

Hi there Actors, Actresses & Those who love them,

Greetings from Nashville, Tennessee! I'm actually writing this after teaching here this weekend, and I'll be flying home this morning to help with registration because many of the classes are full within 5-10 minutes, so it takes all of us to qualify and charge the credit cards. Please make sure you have a credit card that works. We charged six credit cards for Film 2 on Friday and three of them declined, which makes it harder for us. It usually takes three people and at least 5-6 hours to work registration, so please help us out.. I am grateful for all of my wonderful acting students! I can not wait to see them soon!

My newsletter went out Thursday and it literally had 24 pages worth of information for Fall Classes, Information on Seminars, Bookings and Thoughts from several of my students who are enjoying being Stars and Regulars on sets. If you did not get that newsletter, please let us know at4classreg@gmail.comand we will be happy to send you one.

CORRECTIONS:We had to make some corrections from the last newsletter.
I write it for 3 solid days and took 10 hours to edit the newsletter plus Amy & Kylie helped a lot but it is 24 pages worth of info, so we still get some things wrong:

1) REGISTRATION is on Sunday at 2pm, not Saturday.

2) Regular High School Master Classes are 14 1/2 hoursinstead of 17 hours& has six classesinstead of seven classes. If you want 22-24 hours and fewer students, you need to take the Master Intensive. The Director class is actually around 28 hours with the Red Carpet/ Premiere.

3) The Matt Shelton & the New York Agents Seminar is November 9-10,
not November 8-9.

4) The Mixed Levels Weekend Intensive class will also include MASTER Students, especially those from out of town since we want them to be included. I had several students asking about that. I love you guys! I def want to work with you!

5) TWO of the Regular High School Masters Classes had SEVEN classes when they are supposed to have SIX. Correction made below *

THIS letter is going to have the description and details on CLASSES ONLY for registering today. We will include the upcoming seminars, but Remember,We will not be registering for Seminars yet.We have to qualify everyone for those seminars (Which requires you to have at least one class per session to get into the seminars).

REGISTRATION WILL BE TODAY AT2PMthisSUNDAY,SEPTEMBER 22nd. Since many of the classes go within 5-10 minutes of when registration opens, please be ready with your choices. There is no way I can add you into a class no matter how much I love you after the class closes and everyone in the class has been charged. There was some drama last Spring from several of my favorite students last session who didn't get into the class they wanted. It is your responsibility to register on time, so please set your alarm today for 1:50am in order to make sure you are ready to get into that coveted class.

Also, several of my very serious students have asked to take two classes this session in order to get ahead. I have some students taking BOTH the Mixed level seven week class on Thursday nights and the weekend intensive as well the weekend of November 15-17. Several master students want to take a regular master class (MSM or HSM) and the Director Class. I applaud that effort and think it is smart!

Keep in mind that I am teaching in Nashville this weekend and flying home on Sunday to be at registration, but I will be there late, so if you have a question, email me atCathysully2@gmail.comand I will try to get to it late at night when I get in!

I look forward to working with you and your children this Fall.

It will be the best Fall EVER!

Passionately,
Cathryn Sullivan

FALL CLASSES!!!
Information on: One on Ones (Consults)
MASTER Students including Director Class
Film Classes (Ages 10 and up)
Acting For Camera Classes (6-9 year olds) & Pre-AC for 4-5 year olds
**SEMINARS COMING UP***
EXPLANATION OF EACH CLASS:

WHAT CLASSES ARE COMING BACK?We have an amazing schedule of classes for all ages, level of experience and intensity level. There is 12 weekly classes and twelve weekend intensives! Classes need to be taken in order as each one builds on the other. You don't want to take Calculus before Algebra. These classes are the same way.

Film 1- If you are a first time student between the ages of 10-28, Film 1 is where you belong. We have the most innovative, motivational teacher who comes from Austin for this class that is always offered as a weekend intensive.Film 3is done the same way. Our first Film 1 & Film 3 class is happening September 27-29. There will be another one offered the weekend of Nov 15-17.

Film 2/Film 4will be offered on Thursday nights from 5:20-7:20pm for seven classes.
There is also a Weekend Intensive Film 2/Film 4 offered the weekend of November 15-17 for our out of towners or those who want to take more than one level at a time. You CAN take both the Thursday night class and the weekend intensive if you want to get ahead in the program quickly.

Mixed Levels (Film 5, Film 6, New Master 1, New Master 2)will be on Thursday nights from 7:20-9:20pm. It's late, but it's only for seven weeks and it is so much better to take that class every week in order to retain the skills learned in that mixed level class and you can get them fed with homework done before they come to class on Thursdays. It really works out!
There is also a Weekend Intensive Mixed Levels (F5,F6, NM1 & NM2) & Masters offered the weekend of November 15-17 for our out of towners or those who want to take more than one level at a time. You CAN take both the Thursday night class and the weekend intensive if you want to get ahead in the program quickly.

Weekly Master Intensiveis coming Back on Saturdays! (More hours, Less Students: 16 students, 24 1/2 hours this time vs. 22 students, 14 hours). We have made it 30 minutes longer per class this time, and have added 2 more students to keep the cost down! This is the class that has some of the best master students obtaining the most growth all session!

Regular High School/College-Aged Master Classis offered Both on Saturday afternoons (3:30-6pm...out in time to go out that night!) and Wednesday nights (5:30-8pm for 6 classes-15 hours).

Premiere Class(which mostly consists of aides) is on Wednesday nights and is from 8pm- midnight at least.

Adult Classwill be on Thursday mornings from 10am-1pm. It will begin a week after the other classes, and there will six classes. I've had several people stop me and express interest in this class. Go ahead! Try it! It is a mixed level class with all levels of experience in one class. It works wonderfully and is fun! Many Moms of Actors begin taking this class to be able to help their child, and end up working in the business. At the very least- those Moms understand the process of what their children are going through, and it helps with getting them ahead. Erika Melrose took the Adult Class for a while and it really helped her understand what her children needed. There is also a Weekend Intensive Film 2/Film 4 and Mixed Levels (F5,F6, NM1 & NM2) offered the weekend of November 15-17 for our out of towners or those who want to take more than one level at a time. You CAN take both the Thursday night class and the weekend intensive if you want to get ahead in the program quickly.

What do you have for the LITTLE ONES (4-9 year olds):I have really enjoyed watching my little ones grow exponentially this past year and I have decided I want to keep teaching this age range. They are so full of love and are like little sponges trying to learn everything they can. I just adore them! With the re-vamping of thePre-AC (Pre-Acting for Camera for ages 4-5) and AC Classes (Acting for Camera Classes for the 6-9 year olds),I have seen a lot of improvement by my little ones more quickly. The success of these children has risen both here in Texas as well as in L.A....more than I have ever seen in the 19 years I have been teaching in the Dallas area. It has been really fun to watch this age surprise the producers and casting directors with their knowledge and professionalism at such a young age. It has made me so proud!

This session, there is aPre-AC 1/Pre-AC 2 on Tuesdays(one hour only per class from 4-5pm), AnAC 3 & Up (Acting for Camera 3, AC4, AC5 & up)will be on Wednesdays (4-5:30pm) and another class for my beginning 6-9 year olds who want to begin AC 1/AC 2 Students will be on Thursdays (4-5:20pm).

A Special AC 3 & up!There is one AC 3 & up (AC3,AC4,AC5 &up) that will meet on Saturdays for two hours (9:30am-11:30am). This AC on Saturdays is a new class that willgo on-location ONE day to have a real-live "Pretend film shoot". I am excited about my students being head and shoulders above their competition already, and I just want them to continue to surprise the industry professionals.

*****NEW CLASSES: We have a few NEW classes that I am really excited about!
A few will be done a little differently this session.
DIRECTOR Class for MASTER STUDENTS- We will be having a Director Class that will be meeting every other Tuesday from 5-9pm (& one on a Saturday afternoon designed for those who need extra time). Director class is for Master students who are ready to learn the whole process of making a film. We will work together as we go from brainstorming the story, writing it, casting it, filming it and editing it. There will be a Red Carpet and Premiere at the End where we can Watch the films with our Family. This Class is only offered every once in a while. I have really enjoyed Producing my own films and I want to share the love!

TheREGULAR MIDDLE SCHOOL MASTER Class: 5th-8th Grade Master Studentthat will meet every other Tuesday from 5-9pm. Each of those classes will be four hours long 5-7 times. I felt like I would gain momentum with my Middle School Masters and then, our time together would stop abruptly. With the new schedule, there will be less nights the parents will have to drive out to the studio, but I can foresee- more work being accomplished as we gain momentum throughout the four hour night.

SEMINARS
We have two killer seminars planned already!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
NOVEMBER 8-9TH, 2019
MATT SHELTON is coming back with TWO of the hottest New York agents! When we were in L.A. interviewing agents, managers to come hang at the studio for future seminars, we kept hearing these women's names from several agents and managers in L.A. as the "Coolest and Best Agents in New York City who think outside the box!" Well, I totally fell in love with them before I even met them and decided I needed to bring them to our Studio.... and they are coming!!! I can't announce details on this yet as the negotiations are still being handled, but it is set!

It will be Matt's second time to the studio and the Agents' FIRST TIMEto the Studio!! Matt came last year for the first time and picked up JAREN LEWISON & ABIGAIL ACHIRI. Jaren, who had gotten close, but had not booked anything big in yearsis NOW a regular on a Netflix showas a result of Matt & Jennifer Patredis, Jaren's agent's guidance. That is why Jaren (who was an Aide at the Studio) just disappeared from the studio this summer. He booked a regular on that show, but we were unable to talk about it at that time! Can you believe it?!
Abigail Achiri, who has been working hard on her craft with me for over 8 years and who is an Aide for Film 1/Film 3, is a Premiere Student & one of my Best Actresses- booked her first movie with Matt as her manager as well. Abigail will be going on her first set this month for several weeks with anOscar-winning director! MATT is one of my new favorite people in the world right now!

DECEMBER 14-15TH, 2019
JEN PATREDIS is coming back!(Jen's My Favorite L.A. Agent, who is at an agency that is considered to be one of the top 5 agencies in the world & is JAREN LEWISON, MALLORY MAHONEY, SOPHIA ALI etc. agent),MICHAEL HEPBURN is also coming back!(This is the Dude that helped get Master student Logan Kim the gig on GHOSTBUSTERS 2020, the movie considered the hottest movie for kids all year..which everyone wanted including McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard). Film 2/ Film 4
You only get credit for 1 level per series/session

Two levels meet together learning their series, whether it be Film 2 or Film 4 while being in class with the other group. Film 4 is reviewing Film 2 and Film 2 is being able to watch what they are about to get into. Film 2 is all about feeling deep emotions. This class elevates the students' usage in being able to project their extremely emotional scenes. Crying on cue is learned in Film 2. Film 4 is all about Inner monologue.Years ago, several casting directors in L.A. asked me to begin teaching this class. They said "Everyone thinks acting is about thelines, and it's not. It's about listening and being affected by what is happening in the scene and processing that". They went on to explain that they have a hard time finding actors who know how to do that. THAT is why Film 4 was designed and why I believe it is probably the most important class I teach. It is also the class taken over and over again. Even Bryce Class, one of my best actors who has ever come out of the studio took Film 4 over as a Master student.
Film 2/Film 4 Weekly Class $389
Thursdays 5:20pm - 7:20pm -- 7 Classes $389.

Mixed Level Class (Film 5, Film 6, New Master 1, New Master 2) & Masters $389.
Film 5, Film 6, New Master 1, New Master 2 are usually in a "Mixed Levels" Class. Each student will take a "Mixed Level" Class FOUR times. Each time, the student will concentrate on a different level each time.

Film 5
Students will concentrate on Comedy. Comedy is one of the hardest things to teach and learn. Super funny people must learn how to put their funny personalities into scripts, and it's not as easy as it seems.

Film 6
Students learn how to become characters opposite their personalities. An actor doesn't get to choose what characters they get to play. The auditions are usually for complicated, interesting characters that range from mean girl, bully, nerd to sociopath. Students must be ready to delve into those characters with confidence.

New Master 1 begins with the learning of Voice-over work (Slates and ways to be a professional in the VO world is completely different than Film and TV work). After that, we concentrate onphysicalcomedy. Physical comedy is some of the hardest things your child will learn using your body to create comedy. They do it everyday in real life, but have trouble learning how to put it in their scenes. We show them the way. We end up New Master 2 with a dramatic monologue.

New Master 2
Up until New master 2, most of our work has been concentrating on very real and believable work studying Oscar winning type performances for onlyFeature film and Network. New master 2 is the first time the student will be given the KEY to Booking Disney andNickelodeon series- both for regulars and recurring roles. Disney has a quicker pace with 1/2 second reactions and must be animated, yet real. It is very hard to balance that genre and we have lots of experience in this. Disney stars go on to become something of a staple in the world with everyone looking at what you are doing no matter how old you are. The cameras are always on you during your good and bad days.

For those of you who have wondered where Master Student Logan Kim has been these days, he has been on GHOSTBUSTERS 2020 set with McKenna Grace (Another Texas girl who use to be at the Studio and Finn Wolfard. It is the hottest Child Movie of the year and our very own Logan Kim got it. We didn't get his email in time for the last newsletter (He sent it, but I didn't get it)....but we totally want him to be included:
FromLOGAN KIM on the set of GHOSTBUSTERS!!!:
Hi to everyone from the Rust City set! I wanted to share a quick breakdown of what's been happening:

So back in Texas, when I got the script, I started with breaking down my character like we've been taught at Ms. Cathy's. I was told to prepare, but not over prepare. This way, I could be more flexible in how I delivered and reacted to others on set. This has been great in keeping things realistic! Another exciting thing is that the director, Jason Reitman, has been really open to my improv skills and likes suggestions for making scenes even funnier! And since my favorite thing to do is comedic acting, I'm really loving this character and the ability to try new things. Lastly, they've been preparing a new trailer here with tons of clips from filming and everybody's loving it, hopefully you will too! This is definitely a dream come trueand I'm so excited to have this chance to work alongside so many wonderful people!! Thank you for your kind thoughts and support!! See you soon!

Hi there Actors, Actresses & Those who love them,

The Studio had an amazing summer session! It was truthfully- the best summer session ever!...and NOW, it's time for our FALL ACTING CLASSES to begin.

REGISTRATION WILL BE AT 2PM thisSUNDAY,SEPTEMBER 22nd, so please mark your calendars NOW to ensure you will not miss this important date. Many of the classes go within 5-10 minutes of when registration opens. (This is a resend because even though I edited this for hours on end, I still sent out a letter that gave the wrong day! So sorry)

There is so much to learn and retain as an actor in order to be head and shoulders above the competition.... to beat out all of the thousands of actors that compete in this business and this program has proven time and time again that it has what it takes to do just THAT! This summer, I have had several of my students book starring & leading roles in Movies as well as Regular and Starring roles in TV shows! It has been the most amazing time of my career watching all of these successes unfold.

I know reading this email takes time, but trust me- writing it is harder!
There is just so much information to take in!Last week,I asked some of my Master Students what it felt like to be right in the middle of their dream coming true, being a Star or a Regular on a set- and they were so sweet to take some time and put their feelings into words. It was so moving to read how happy they are! I am excited for you to be able to read their thoughts as they get to use what they have been working towards all of this time in class!

NEW CLASSES: We have a few NEW classes that I can't wait to tell you about!
DIRECTOR Class for MASTER STUDENTS- We will be having a Director Class that will be meetingevery other Tuesday from 5-9pm(& one on a Saturday afternoon designed for those who need extra time).

**Added bonus: BEST TWO FILMS will be shown at BEYOND THE AFTER Premiere!

Middle School Master Classwill be done differently this session. I always felt like there was never enough time for this class...that we'd have to stop once we gained momentum, so we are having this class in 3 1/2 hour intervals this session. Class will be 5:30-9pm this session with fewer class days. More time, Less driving days. All they will need for this class is a snack.

Also, we have several classes for the little ones (including Pre-AC for our 4-5 year olds, but I want to announce A very Special AC 3 & up Class! There is one AC 3 & up (AC3,AC4,AC5 &up) that will meet on Saturdays for two hours (9:30am-11:30am). This AC on Saturdays is a new class that willgo on-location ONE day to have a real-live "Pretend film shoot". I am excited about my students being head and shoulders above their competition already, and I just want them to continue to surprise the industry professionals.

SEMINARS
We have two killer seminars set already:
November 8-9TH, 2019
MATT SHELTON is coming back along with TWO of the hottest New York agents. When I was out in L.A. interviewing various Agents and Mangers to come to the studio, I kept hearing about these two fabulous think-outside-the-box Agents inNew York City. It was weird because the excitement came from several managers in L.A! I knew as soon as I heard about them that they were the ones I wanted to come see my students in Texas....and that seminar is set now! I won't announce the details yet as the details are still be negotiated, but it is happening!
Abigail Achiri, who has been working hard on her craft with me for over 8 years and who is an Aide for Film 1/Film 3, is a Premiere Student & one of my Best Actresses- booked her first movie with Matt as her manager. Abigail will be going on her first set this month for several weeks with an Oscar-winning director! MATT is one of my new favorite people in the world right now!It will be Matt's second time to the studio and the Agents' FIRST TIMEto the Studio, so please mark your calendar for November 8-9.

December 14-15TH, 2019

BEYOND THE AFTER!We just wrapped our Second Studio-Produced film
BEYOND THE AFTER this past weekend as we shot at an abandoned hospital in Oak Cliff. This film was bigger and better than I ever thought it would be and one of the most magical things I have ever experienced. Every single day something exciting and surprising would happen. I fell in madly and totally in love with this process!

Our first Produced film, AFTER has ended up and continues to win many awards at various film festivals. Some of the trophies and awards we have accumulated with AFTER include: Best Produced Screenplay (Shaun & I) , Best Editor (Shaun),
Best Young Actress (Audrey Lingle), Best Young Actor (Jake Melrose) and many more. We are excited to see what will happen with our second film! Editing and Post-Production takes 1000s of hours. Our Premiere for the new film will be in January.

Many of my students are on high-profile TV shows and Movies right now, so I asked them how it felt to be in the middle of their dreams coming true.
This is what they said:

Cathy,

I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for everything you do and for giving actors the skill set they need to succeed. I remember my first big project, Teen Spirit, people were astounded by my professionalism, ability to hit marks (apparently many actors aren’t even trained in this!), hit cues, take direction, bring my A game take after take etc. People couldn’t believe it was my first job outside of commercials. I told them my acting coach, Cathryn Sullivan is phenomenal and truly trains us to be “set ready”. I wouldn’t have been at that level already had I not taken your classes.

In, Annabelle Comes Home, I had to cry and scream in terror take after take AFTER TAKE for multiple scenes. It’s one of the most emotionally demanding projects I’ve ever done. Luckily, I’d worked on all of that a ton at your studio. One of my initial audition scenes was basically the film 2 terror exercise. (Walk casually, hear something, look for where it came from, see the most terrifying thing, scream for your life). I said to myself “Man, all my years aiding and doing those film 2 examples over and over are about to pay off.” Haha. I used that and some of the techniques I’ve learned from guests you’ve brought in for workshops. I switch out the different techniques and I use them all the time.

What I love most about your classes is you don’t just throw us into the ring— you help us harness and finesse individual parts of the craft so we can really LEARN them and not brush over some of the most invaluable steps to acting.

I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for your training. All of your students are SO blessed to have you as their acting coach. I love you and appreciate you so much (both as a coach and the incredible person you are!)️️️

This is from Brec Basinger as she wraps her first season as the Star of Stargirl:
“Acting is simultaneously the most rewarding and hardest job out there. You have to put in the work. There is no way around it. I am so grateful for my time at Cathryn’s. She truly gave me the building blocks and creative process that I still use today in my roles.”

"Just wanted to update you on set life. It’s going incredibly well. I have been so pleased thus far with how these past few episodes are going. We don’t have a DIT for the project so I actually haven’t seen any footage but its been feeling so natural and multileveled. I had an emotional scene on Thursday and the whole crew was amazed at how I could cry without the use of a tear stick. They loved how I played the opposite (I laughed a bit at the end while crying) and I had crew members come up to me afterwards and tell me I made them cry and that it was such a deep meaningful performance. I was able to bring such a different side to my character and have the audiences view of him drastically change in this episode. The writing is also incredible and I feel like I’m living a dream. The hours are long but every second that goes by feels like the best second of my life. Hope all is well at home".

Love and miss you!
Jaren

Hi Cathy!!

I’ve been in LA for about 8 weeks and it has been a wonderful experience. I am so fortunate to be working with amazing people which include Mario Lopez, Seth Kurland, David Kendall. Working with various directors allows me to learn so many different aspects and views of multi-cam. It’s extremely fast paced and thank God for all of the weekend intensives I took with you! It has allowed me to work quickly yet follow the system to prepare in every way necessary to be ready for shoot days. Writers work daily and I’m ready to take on any last minute changes. Our first director gifted me a multi-color pen because she liked my note-taking strategy. My script is super messy, yet color coded, which for me, is a great deal. People notice when one is prepared. I’m so excited for what’s to come, as soon as I have more information about the show, I will let you know!!

Love You, Miss You, Take care!
Paulina Chávez”

PS (From Cathy)- Last week, her director was Eva Longoria!

I have been incredibly lucky to be on a network television show for 7 years now! Time truly flies. I’ve learned so much from being surrounded by actors and actresses who have years worth of improv experience. It’s also been awesome to work alongside some very well known stars who cameo on our show every week from Charlie Sheen to Anthony Michael Hall to David Spade! The best way to learn is by being thrown into the center of a situation and rolling with the punches. Outside of film, I try my best to juggle my own music career, which can be hard as an unsigned artist. I make time whenever we aren’t filing to song write, record and perform on tour. It can be difficult at time to schedule it all out while filming the show, but I believe if you love to do something you find a way to make it work! I’ve been very lucky to receive so much support from friends and family and all of you back home! It’s definitely not a one woman job so your words of kindness mean more than you know on those days when it gets tough. Keep working hard, learning every day and keep those positive vibes up because you never know where today is going to take you!

Liv Haynes: What I love about Cathy's studio is that she not only teaches you about being on screen, she teaches you how to be professional on set and what's going on behind the camera. I took her directors class twice, and that helped me to be able to write Not Ur Girlfrenz music video treatments and understand how to convey to directors how I want the shots to look. I also use a lot of my knowledge on writing scripts and acting out scripts to write songs in the most real way possible. If it wasn't for Cathy I wouldn't be the strong woman I am today, which is something she encourages and makes sure her students are or become.

Maren Alford: Studying at Cathy’s has given us great poise and confidence to use as our “secret weapons” in a variety of different situations - film, television and commercial auditions, workshops with some of the best in the entertainment industry, thinking on our feet during press interviewsand performing live onstage in front of thousands of people as a rock band!

Gigi Haynes: Taking classes at Cathy's taught me that you can make your dreams come true. You know it can happen, because it is happening all around you all the time. When you have aides like Logan Henderson (from Big Time Rush) and Cody Linley (Hannah Montanta), it makes you think if they can do it, why can't I?

We love you Cathy! If your studio didn't exist, neither would Not Ur Girlfrenz because we never would have met each other!! THANK YOU for giving kids like us a place to learn and grow together!

Film 1- If you are a first time student between the ages of 10-27, Film 1 is where you belong.

There is also a Weekend Intensive Mixed Levels (F5,F6, NM1 & NM2) offered the weekend of November 15-17 for our out of towners or those who want to take more than one level at a time.

Each master student is expected to have an extremely serious and professional work ethic with choices for their scenes and characters. Many times, students work on Oscar winning movies with scenes that have been edited and developed for more age-appropriate scenes including shows like "La La Land" and Classics like "Primal Fear".Cathryn believes that Young actors are smarter and better than what most people give them credit for and she has been proving that year after year with her Skilled and talented Master Students!

FILM STUDENTS (Students age 10-27)

(Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 19)
(No Classes on Halloween)

Film 2/Film 4 Weekend Intensive
Friday Nov. 15th 5pm - 7pm,
Saturday Nov. 16th and
Sunday Nov. 17th 9am - 1:30pm

Mixed Level Class (Film 5, Film 6, New Master 1, New Master 2) $389.

Mixed Levels Weekly Classes (F5, F6, NM1, NM2) $389
Thursdays 7:20pm - 9:20pm -- 7 Classes
(Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 19)
(No Classes on Halloween)
14 Hours

Mixed Level Weekend Intensive $389.

Saturday Nov. 16th and
Sunday Nov. 17th 2:45pm - 8pm

ADULT CLASS- $389.
ADULT Class is on Thursdays from 10am-1pm beginning October 17th. It is a mixture of extremely hard-working actors/actresses in the business and Moms who are trying to learn more about this whole thing to help their children and it Works~! It's a lovely group of men and women and we have a lot of fun in this class. I've had a few people tell me they've eyed this class for themself, but are kind of scared. Don't be scared! Come join us! You will enjoy it!

BRENNEN FROSTjust wrapped up filming DARK WATERS episode 206 for the Discover Channel in Miami after a few days on location. Brennen had to discover a dead body underwater (absolute incredible cinematography). She had to dive down 7 feet to the camera lens (dead body) and react. This was done in a pool and camera men were under her. Another cool scene she had to jump off a big boat and then swim around in the ocean. They had dive teams in the water surrounding her.

Then the director about fell over when she cried during another scene when her “dad” had to phone in the find to the coast guard! She said Film 2 just poured out and that her training with you all focused her to in character.Last month she shot for Manifest on NBC which she enjoyed too! She’s a hard worker and loves every ounce of this! Also...Brennen's Momma (who flies her kids from Florida to this studio for Classes and takes privates from Cody) says
" Cody, you told Brennen to sing as part of a scene “improv” sketch. She hasn’t stopped singing and is self teaching herself to play ukelele! You ignited a fire in her so big.

BEYOND THE AFTER
These are our many sets of BEYOND THE AFTER. It was so much fun! I can not wait to see the final product, but just the experience broadened me as a creative person!
I look forward to seeing you at the Howard Meltzer seminar and we will be getting our Fall schedule together soon!

HI there Actors, Actresses & all of you who love them,

JUNE 4TH, 2019 marks the 10 year anniversary of the Studio's opening! We have so many wonderful classes that will help your actor/actress excel. We are making professionals out of you &/or your little actors. What a wonderful Winter/Spring session we have had.

NOAH COTTRELL is blowing up because of a Master exercise! All Masters were required to do a celebrity impression in class this past session along with a drama and comedy. Noah Cottrell put his celebrity impression up on his instagram and tagged Kalen Allen. Kalen loved Noah's impression of him so much, Kalen put it up on HIS insta 2 days agoand now, it has had over 194,343 VIEWS!!! Everyone is so excited about it!! It is all the buzz in L.A. right now. There is always something fun going on like that at the studio, and things that happen that you weren't expecting!

NEXT WEEK, We have buff-ups and then, this big cool, excitingseminarhappening next weekend with our Industry Guests L.A. Agent Cindy Osbrink, Casting Director Deb Dion. We will also have our our local agents Diana Dyer from Campbell Agency and Dee Ann Vernon from Kim Dawson Agency. (Shannon Horan (Campbell) said she wants to bop by and see our AC students Saturday morning, Alyssa Van Hoover from Kim Dawson Agency wants to come some of the time as well and even
John Kolinofsky (from Callidus) might be coming by as well)!
I look forward to showing off my students!

You know what else is happening next weekend?
SUMMER REGISTRATION!Summer registration is Happening at 10am on Saturday, April 27th. Summer schedule is out & is written down below in order of the Summer by week AND by Levels. You can also look at the schedule as a whole on the calendar here :

MASTERS FILM-MAKING BOOT CAMP!There are so many classes to choose from: One that I am super excited about is our Master Film-Making Boot Camp. It will be produced by bothShaun Cunninghamand I. This camp will have TWO Directors of Photography this year instead of one, all New equipment, a Professional Lighting Guy and Professional Sound Guy on this shoot. EVERYONE in the class will learn how all of this works behind the camera (Two days of Film Theory & Rehearsal) as well as in front of the camera (All actors will have Three days of Shooting on location). It will be edited and if it's as good as it was this past year, It will be submitted to film festivals. This is the second time we have offered this popular camp! The film we shot last year was shown privately in January.

Shaun & I recently submitted them to film festivals. As of today, we have Three Laurels (Three official selections, TWO awards (for Best Young Actress-Audrey Lingle & Best Young Actor-Jake Melrose), and we are semi-Finalists in FOUR categories at one of the festivals. We submitted to NINE film festivals and only THREE have watched it, and we were selected by all three! The other 6 festivals haven't even watched it yet, so we expect more selections and awards!
THIS camp at OUR Studio is not like any other!

(Below is Jay Scarborough with Jake & Dash Melrose for a scene from the "After")

MIDDLE SCHOOL MASTER INTENSIVE with a LOCK-IN!!!Because it IS the studio's 10th anniversary, I have disregarded my rule to "Never have a lock-in again" just for this summer, so beginning June 4th, we will have 21 hours of Work on the Craft and then, we will do Laser Tag, Pizza out, A movie & Popcorn (PG-13) at the Studio and lights out at 1am. We plan to have at least THREE adults to watch the 14 students selected and we will be sleeping by the doors. (I raised 4 boys! I don't trust anyone..LOL) June 5-8th

MASTER INTENSIVE (R-rated)!I also am offering master intensive class for older and more mature scripts. With this master intensive, it includes an option to have a private with Cathryn Sullivan for a discounted price ($50--$75)! This is a rare opportunity. The private can be used as a consult or the student can use it as a private on a specific project.

Cody Linley,My son will be coming back for a week withALL NEW CLASSESsharing what all he has been learning in Los Angeles this year with top Acting coaches, Directors and Writers! FILMMAKERS BOOTCAMP: Taking students from script to screen and everything in between.Includes IMDb credit for each student!Students taking this class will learn how to produce, direct and shoot a short film/video, working together both in front of and behind the camera.

Students will learn what it takes to get a project off the ground, starting with a script and finishing with an IMDb-approved short film or video which they will perform, produce, shoot and direct together. (5-7 minute video project).

Students will learn:

  • How to analyze a script from a director’s perspective and break it down for principal photography
  • Principles of directing: The directors role, what is expected of them
  • What camera angles and movements are used in TV and film and how to apply them to the bootcamp script, ready to be filmed
  • Principles of Photography:How to set up and use a camera to shoot narrative TV and film
  • How to make creative decisions behind the camera to make sure that the captured footage serves the script and tells the story in the most effective way
  • Principles of Sound: How to separate and manage sound and video. How to mic up actors and capture sound to a professional recording device
  • Principles of Editing: How to create an editing timeline as well as color correction and grading using vector scopes and waveform monitors and how to avoid the “three cardinal sins of editing” that will get you fired on network TV and studio movies.

Working together as a production cast and crew, once the students have developed everything needed to shoot the video, they will put all their learning into “ACTION” with TWO FULL DAYS of shooting (at least 8 hours).

During the bootcamp, students will take on roles such as director, assistant director, director of photography, sound operator, script supervisor and actors. There will be pre-production sessions, script reviews and table reads, actor rehearsals, shoot planning and scheduling and all the chaos of a real production!

By the end of the bootcamp, students will have created all the footage required to pass to post-production for editing (which will be completed after the bootcamp) and the final video will be available online a few weeks later. Students will earn an IMDb credit for their work on the video, subject to IMDb’s approval.

I appreciate this is a high dollar class but it includes three coaches with public profiles and track records. I’m not aware of any other acting studio offering its students the opportunity to go through a filmmakers bootcamp led by an award-winning filmmaker. Master coach is Shaun Peter Cunningham from Picto Films (www.pictofilms.com). Shaun has over 80 IMDb credits and many of my students and their parents have seen his work, and several know what it’s like to work with him. (Five of my students won awards at the 2017 Los Angeles Independent Film Awards in one of Shaun’s projects).

Joining Shaun, is a professional sound recordist who will be mentoring students before and during the shoot, and I will be coaching actors as well as sharing my own experience of being on hundreds of professional sets.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to attends the Filmmakers Bootcamp. June 25-29th & possibly June 30th.

RACHEL ROBERTSON- We heard from RACHEL!: " I remember my director class very well (I hated editing that film, but I ended up having a knack for it in college). I love seeing more and more of your students try/take up comedy! I know I got started because of you, so it makes sense. I still occasionally do stand up, but I mostly do sketch and original characters now. I'm on a weekend house team at the Magnet Theater in NY, and I love it! Apart from that, my main job is taking stories written by kids and bringing them to life onstage with the Story Pirates, so I've basically been a human cartoon for the last 4 years. Still very much a comedian, now living among hundreds of other comedians, which is very fun. I remember you telling me I'd probably take a different path than my classmates, and I've greatly appreciated that, as I constantly remind myself we're all on our own path with our own adventure and our own battles to fight".

KARIANAKARHAbooked a commercial for Organicare, for their Curoxen product. She's the only actor in the commercial, and she plays a little scientist. Also, the Children's Health commercial she was in premiered during the
Super Bowl, which was exciting! She also has her own little 30-second version...here's the link in case you want to check it out.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2dDuOdcbC8

And, finally, she booked a series regular role on an upcoming web series calledUnder One Roof. It's currently in pre-production and will start filming this summer.

BRENNENFROSTcomes from Florida for class. She just wrapped up filming “Dark Waters” episode 206for theDiscover Channelin Miami after a few days on location.

She said Film 2 just poured out and that her training with you all focused her to in character.

Brennen absolutely feels blessed to have you as coaches and prepping her along her journey.

Last month she shot for "Manifest"onNBCwhich she enjoyed too! She’s a hard worker and loves every ounce of this! Kid has big dreams...

Thank you!

Her work has gotten so much better in the last month !!! She is getting more grounded and I'm thrilled at the work you're doing to get her more real.  She's got such a beauty that I know she can have a rewarding career if she learns to act without pushing – and you’ve made great gains with her.  Beautiful work on your part. HI there Actors, Actresses &
Those who love them,

SPRING Classes are coming out late this session because I've been busy with the Premiere of "AFTER" this past week which I produced!
We shot two casts doing the same script and resulted in two fabulous films. The director and I will be meeting next week making decisions about what Film festivals they(Above is My Staff 2019!)
will be submitted to. We also had Nickelodean callbacks this week & one of my days was filled with 12 hr coaching sessions with no lunch break & I STILL couldn't get everyone in!! I was very proud of how many of my students had callbacks, but I certainly was not surprised.Hard work produces RESULTS and REWARDS!

GOOD NEWS!CLASSES BEGIN THE LAST WEEK OF FEBRUARY AND
REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES WILL BE THIS NEXT TUESDAY February 12th AT 7PM!The Winter/Spring Session's weekly classes will begin the last week of February! .........AND YES! There will be seminars, but those won't be on the calendar yet because one is being negotiated right now, however I wanted to get the class information up right away so we can get this session started!

One of my STAR's -DEBBY RYAN's Momma is coming to do a Parent Seminar this session on March 31st at 3pm. DEBBY RYAN got her start on Disney with "Suite Life on Deck" and was the Star of Disney's "Jessie". Debby is on "Insatiable" now, did a movie with Melissa McCarthy that came out a few months ago, and is producing a lot of things right now! Debby's momma, Sandra Ann has been heavily involved with her daughter's decisions and it's made for a fantastic career! Plan on Finding out how she did it
March 31st! (This workshop will not be up to register for yet, but mark your calendars!) .

THERE ARE WEEKEND WORKSHOPS HAPPENING THIS MONTH THAT YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR RIGHT NOW!There are a few classes happening before the weekly classes begin, so you might think about getting one more session in before we begin weekly sessions. The classes this weekend (Feb. 8-10/Film 2/4 & Mixed Levels) is a
full class with a huge waiting list, but there is another session the following weekend called "MOST LEVELS" that has almost all levels except for Film 4, and there are still 3 spots left in that class.(That class will include Film 2, Film 5, Film 6, New Master 1 & New Master 2 and Master students).
Why not take one more session and go up one more level before the weekly sessions begin?! Also, there is still space in our Film 1 and Film 3 class coming up this coming weekend. If you are thinking about starting in our program, THIS weekend is a great time to start. You could take Film 1 this weekend, get into my Film 2 on Thursdays for weekly classes and that will qualify you for the workshops that are happening this session!

***NEW RULE: IF ANY STUDENT RECOMMENDS A NEW STUDENT TO FILM 1 AND THAT STUDENT TAKES FILM 1, HE/SHE WILL RECEIVE A $20 CREDIT ON THEIR NEXT CLASS OR SEMINAR! (IF YOU RECOMMEND 3 PEOPLE, YOU WILL GET $60 OFF!)

***NEW CLASS!!! I'VE DECIDED I WANT TO TEACH A NEW PRE-AC CLASS THIS SESSION FOR 4-5 YEAR OLDS!!- I had so much fun this last session with my AC1/AC2 class & saw so many results from that class when it came to bookings, I decided to try the same idea for our 4-5 year olds by teaching a Pre-AC 1 and Pre-AC 2 class this session! This will be the first time I have taught this class in many years, but like Amy pointed out to me- the last time I taught AC 1 & AC 2 before this last session- Bryce Gheisar, Mallory Mahoney, Matt McCann, Liv & Gigi Haynes all came from the class I taught, and they are all STARS now!!! It is time for us to try that with our 4-5 year olds. How cool would it be to be one step ahead of everyone else their age when it comes to booking TV & Films!?
Pre-AC 1 and PRE-AC 2 is usually only offered as a summer class and this session &
I am only taking 12 students during this session. We are keeping the price at $199. at this time.

ARE YOU A NEW STUDENT TO OUR PROGRAM OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO WOULD BE GREAT IN OUR SERIOUS PROGRAM?
DO YOU COME FROM ANOTHER PROGRAM IN THE AREA?Are you thinking about becoming a new student to our program? Our program has been around for almost two decades and has launched many stars and working actors in Films and TV shows.
What is different about our program?! Our program gets results! (Check out our Hall of Fame! It's impressive! (Our Master Students don't just book commercials. They book Starring and Leading roles in Studio Feature Films and Starring roles in TV shows! Look at our "Hall of Fame" or check out the website where I am on Selena Gomez's E-Hollywood Story or written about in
Demi Lovato's Momma's book "Falling With Wings" where she champions me as someone who helped her daughter become a stronger human being in this business).

Recently, I've been asked by several people about how they could be placed in our program after going to other programs/studios in the area...They all want to know where they would be placed. (Do they have to start at Film 1, etc.) The answer is different with each person. If you are wondering about this, do not hesitate to contact me directly by my emailCathysully2@gmail.comand we can discuss.
IF YOU ARE A CURRENT STUDENT AND REFER SOMEONE TO US FOR FILM 1, YOU WILL GET A $20. OFF YOUR CLASS OR SEMINAR!(Ask them to be sure and give your name as a referral so you can get the credit!)

MASTER STUDENTS!It is pilot season and with pilot season comes a lot of taped auditions. It is a crazy time,so this is the most important time for you to be growing as an actor. If you finally get down to a screen test or chemistry read, you want to be able to be sharp, compete and land that show or movie!

There will be Regular master classes happening as well as our Special master intensive classes divided by age range. The master intensives are more expensive, but will have less students (only 14 students allowed) and has almost double the amount of time
(14 students, at least 21 hours instead of 14 hours and 20 students). We have a chance to work with students with more in-depth study of each character, more one-one-one coaching on close-ups (which is a skill all of it's own) with "on-location shootings" to help my students become super comfortable with being on sets. I love my Regular Classes too. It's just enough time to keep your skills in tact and learn while being with their people (Dreamers/Artists/Actors/Actresses).

Actors are always either growing and moving forwardsorgetting rusty and going backwards. I have even added a "Make-up day" just for you guys to have an extra day to finish up your work this session-knowing there could be a day that you aren't able to do everything and need a chance to make it up. I promise you, the things we work on this session will only help you in getting callbacks, chemistry reads, screen tests and bookings!!

***NEW!! A BIG PRIZE IS BEING OFFERED TO THE BEST ACTOR/ACTRESS THIS SESSION, TOO!Also, during this session,TWO scholarships will be given out for this summer's MASTER FILM CAMP where actors get to be in a produced & edited film Produced by Cathryn & Directed by Shaun Cunningham! We just premiered our last summer's film this past week called "AFTER" & many master students on that set were quoted as "It was the best thing that has ever happened in my life"! It really is the most fun I've ever had teaching a class as well. We ALL want more of these!
Prizes are going to go to the "MOST IMPROVED" Master Actor/Actress and ALL Master Classes will have a chance to receive this PRIZE as well as "BEST ACTOR or ACTRESS of SPRING 2019".
EACH WILL RECEIVE A $100. SCHOLARSHIP towards the FILM CAMP/SUMMER 2019!

CODY LINLEY is coming into town during Spring Break to offer classes!
YAY! Cody is coming back during Spring Break and has a variety of classes to teach. I love that he has a passion for these things- Voiceover, Improvisation and he's offering a NEW course on Screen-Writing! There is Voice-over & Improv Class (Our students need help with both of these!!!) and a free lunch offered both days to those who take both of these classes. Cody's very popular classes: "Casting for an Actor's Perspective" is back, and his "Advanced Character Development Class"! He also has a few private lessons available for either coaching or consulting. Why not take advantage of this and get him alone to focus just on YOU? He is a great coach and he became a huge star by the age of 15 years old...enough of a Star that he got to be a "Star" on "Dancing with the Stars" (7th season) where he won fourth place and beat out people like Kim Kardashian and Susan Lucci and got to pick his partner, Julianne Hough... so TRUST ME! There is much to be learned from Cody! (Below is Cody Liley with his SAG screeners on "Insta"!)

Guess what?! DEBBY RYAN'S momma IS COMING TO teach A PARENT SEMINAR FOR US MARCH 31st!We won't have this class up for registration yet, but I want you to save the date. CLASSES FOR OUR YOUNGER STUDENTS:
There are three classes for our little ones. There is a NEW CLASS for Pre-AC 1 and Pre-AC 2 students for 4-5 year olds. We have never had a Pre-AC class during a Spring Session. They are usually held only in the Summer And this is the first time I will be teaching it. I had so much fun teaching my AC 1 students this last session and so many of them booked so many things they went out on (Including one who got to do six commercials in JAPAN!), so I decided to try going even younger.

There is also an AC 1/AC2 class (Acting for Camera 1 & Acting for Camera 2) that meets on
Thursday afternoons at 3:50pm-5:20. I SOO enjoyed the AC 1 class I had this last session. I'm looking forward to getting most of you back this next session. There were so many of those students who booked and got immediate results! The third class I teach for this age range is for my AC 3, AC 4, AC 5 (Acting for Camera 3 ,etc) and up. This class is on Saturday mornings whereI will only take EIGHT students. I begin to get These kids ready to go into the FILM program early. It is more expensive than the other classes, but totally worth it.

Parker Weathersbee is a great example of someone who did the program this way and entered the Film classes early. He booked a six month stint in New York for a traveling Broadway play. PARENT SEMINAR 101

Sunday, March 31, 2019 (2-4pm)

$55

Registration NOW OPEN at www.cathrynsullivan.com

Parent Seminars - Why they ARE IMPORTANT
If your child dream’s it, YOU (the parent) must master (understand) it, SO THEY CAN DO IT!
You know the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”, well it takes a TRIBE to raise an actor!
Surely, you want to understand and help navigate one of the most important endeavors your child
may take on right? Part of knowing is understanding and understanding is learning. Parent
seminars are available tools for you (the parents) to take advantage of. To learn from the
experience of others and to gain the knowledge of this ever changing industry. Such as: the
difference between an agent and a manager? When is your child ready for an agent?, do you know
what tax write off’s you have? how important is training? the benefits of seminars? agency
contracts? what is pilot season? what is episodic season? AND SO SO SO MUCH MORE. Most
parents of successful young actors have attended and participated in these seminars. Your child
may be the driving force behind this journey but YOU (the parent) are the one behind the wheel, shouldn’t you know where you are going?

PARENT SEMINAR I:
Finding an Agent
Etiquette in the business
Headshots (theatrical vs commercial look)
Resume (template samples)
Prepare for Seminars
